Siwei Ma received the B.S degree from Shandong Normal University in 1999, Jinan, China, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Institute of Computing Technology (ICT), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) in 2005, Beijing, China. He worked as a postdoc researcher at University of Southern California from 2005 to 2007, Los Angeles, U.S. Then he joined Peking University, Beijing, China, as a lecturer, associated professor and full professor. He is currently a Boya distinguished professor in the School of Computer Science at Peking University and the Dean Assistant to the School of Computer Science at Peking University. Prof. Siwei Ma is the vice director of the National Engineering Lab. on Video Technology at Peking University. He leads video group of Audio and Video Coding Standard (AVS) Workgroup. He has been the associate editor of Journal of Visual Communication and Representation (JVCIR). and associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and System for Video Technology (TCSVT). He is also the deputy director of multimedia committee of the China Society of Image and Graph (CSIG).
